Pants?

I dressed up and shaved for a teleconference today. When there were technical problems I was joking around with the techie guy and was getting ready to quip
'If I would've known they couldn't see me, I wouldn't have worn pants'
when I remembered that my boss was sitting next to me and was wearing pants
Josh, I love your blog cause I totally feel your graduate work posts...

Fresh Pants

Nothing is more disheartening than putting on shorts for the first time this summer... My butt has gotten hewwwwwge...

Bite the friend that feeds

Finally, something that I can run through garageband for friends and giggles. http://nin.com/current/ has a garageband track for 'the hand that feeds' that I have been playing with this morning.

Josh,

Tiger isn't worth the full price, if your school has a discount I would get it. There's some cool stuff, but it hasn't changed the way that I compute.

However, if you want a really nerdy article that explains why Tiger is cool, check this out http://arstechnica.com/reviews/os/macosx-10.4.ars

I turn my camera on

It's hard to focus when you know that friendship is coming soon from two directions...

My computing life isn't that complicated

So far I haven't been that wowed over by my upgrade to Tiger. I think this is mainly due to the fact that I'm kinda of organized and most of the new tools are to help find the needle in a haystack.

For example...

Spotlight - I already know where my documents of interest reside, I don't need spotlight to find anything
Smart Folders - I think my folder and filing system is already smart enough

So and and so forth, I need to leave...

Mac OS X Tiger

Tonight I installed Mac OS X Tiger and started trying out widgets. Right now I am posting via a dashboard widget called DashBlog. I am hoping this works, here goes...

I came the conclusion that computers make us dumber tonight.

This came after I gave up trying to spell within correctly. Instead of learning the correct spelling, I just added an autocorrect rule within word so that 'withen' would automatically be replaced with 'within'

Love those computers

Sunday, May 01, 2005

I still cannot spell within correctly... I use it all the time, but I still spell it 'withen' almost every single time... I even looked it up tonight to see if the spelling 'withen' is an alternative spelling in any language, and apparently it is not. At least according to Google's define function.

It's kinda sad, but I feel bad for my computer at times. It's just a laptop, but I keep running server type tasks on it. She's been running at 100% CPU usage for about a week now. Right now she's indexing two gigs worth of text data, parsing 44,000 email addresses, running a heavy mysql database, and of course posting a blog at the same time... It's sad when I can feel my laptop warming up and killing my sperm in real time as I pile on more work.

Oh well, compute on gentle computer, compute on...
