man, I used to like mysql, until i actually took a challenging database class... I never realized how many things it doesn't actually support... sadly, I'm thinking about using SQLServer instead just to get support for the full feature set I want...

a brief political comment

okay, I've been having trouble sleeping... and the only thing on is the o'reilly factor, so what the hey, I'm watching that... Well anyways he had one of the cheney daughters on to talk about the comment that kerry made about mary cheney... it was funny, bill asked her straight up if mary was angry about him bringing out her private (well actually public) personal life... the cheney daughter just kept saying that "we're all angry"... so I got to thinking, what does mary herself say about this, but I'll be damned if I can't find anything straight out of mary cheney's mouth about the whole thing...

another thing, a democrat was on about how he's voting republican because he believes that we're safer with bush... I don't feel any safer basically because we haven't done any better about securing our borders... and there hasn't been any coordination among agencies to create a cohesive / accurate list of people to legally watch without eroding civil liberties... plus I think the 'bush doctrine' has only turned up anti-american sentiment... we're causing terrorists to band together rahter than disperse (like that one iraqi troublemaker who recently joined up with al queda)

Alright, I'm really starting to get excited about my ibook

1) Hacked the firmware using Screen Spanning Doctor http://macparts.de/ibook/
2) Set up x11 and linux to work together
3) Discovered the Screen utility
4) Found a decent blog posting applescript
5) Found a great sftp client Transmit

I'm so productive that I have nothing to do...

I thought I'd blog more if it were easier to do, but it turns out that even though it is easier to blog, it's not any easier to come up with stuff to blog about...

Other than that, I'd like to apologize to the poor fellow that I jerked around in poker last monday... I called him all in not knowing that he'd both lost a girlfriend and fifty bucks that night... I was just being aggressive, I didn't know...

Yeah, so the last entry was redundant, but basically our year anniversary was this past monday, and the whole week was better because of it...

I need to quit ragging on words

Lately I've had a few conversations with people about words as a concept. I find myself awfully critical of words, I don't believe that they have any innate meaning, for example, while talking to zeb about gay marriage, Zeb claimed that the word marriage is needed for true equality beyond legal equality. I disagreed, I suggested that a new word should be invented (not civil union, which lacks any feeling, which I think kind of invalidates my argument) I don't know where I'm going with this, but lately I find that words fail me a lot...

Poker night

There's nothing really going on here... I basically did a month's worth of database work sunday afternoon, tonight's poker night, wednesday night I volunteer for the democrats, zeb gets back tonight and we'll play frisbee golf...

Basically I can't wait until I find out if I got into the PhD program, until then it's just poker and beer...

Why did I change blog sites?

I changed blog sites so I could post automatically from linux, see the thought goes as follows, if I can post quickly from work, won't I post more often? We'll see...
